FETCH a Cure Marks Pet Cancer Awareness Month
FETCH a cure, a Richmond-based "from-the-heart," 501(c ) (3) nonprofit is determined to improve the quality of life for pets as it focuses on issues of pet health, most specifically cancer and aging. It is providing pet owners with the resources to recognize the importance of early cancer detection and the symptoms of senior care. In recognition of November as Pet Cancer Awareness Month, FETCH a Cure is presenting a variety of educational and enjoyable activities to support its mission.
Educational Seminar with Dr. Nancy Gustafson, "Pets With Cancer: You Have Options"
FETCH a Cure is kicking off its month long awareness campaign, "See Spots," with an educational lecture on the topic of cancer diagnosis and the options that pet owners have when faced with this traumatizing news. Providing pet owners with the information and knowledge to make informed decisions when it comes to the diagnosis of cancer is at the heart of FETCH a Cure's purpose. Dr. Nancy Gustafson, a member of the FETCH a Cure Medical Advisory Board and a Radiation Oncologist from The Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, Virginia will be speaking on the topic of, "Pets with Cancer: You Have Options."
Because so many owners view the diagnosis of cancer as "the end," it is critical to understand that there are options, numerous options both palliative and curative.
Education is the #1 key to prevention and treatment, and ultimately the fight against pet cancers.
To become a more informed pet owner, come to the Tuckahoe Library on Thursday November 5 at 7:00PM. Dr. Gustafson will be speaking for about 45 minutes with 20 minutes of questions and answers to follow. (Bring a Book about pet cancer and/or senior aging to donate to the FETCH a Cure lending Library.) Please visit www.fetchacure.com for further details or contact FETCH a Cure at 804.525.2193.
See Spots with Local Merchants
FETCH a Cure will promote its See Spots campaign by partnering with Richmond merchants in honor of fighting pet cancer, the deadliest of companion-animal diseases. Participating sponsors will donate part of the sales from specified items or services to See Spots, meaning you can help our furry friends simply by frequenting the See Spots participants. Make it your goal to raise canine cancer awareness and funds for FETCH a Cure. For participating sponsors, click here.
