Simple Pleasures Review: Live Like Your Nail Color

Life Is Good - Books

Review:  Live Like Your Nail Color - Even If You Have Naked Nails, by Mary Foley

Review by Brenda Seward

Live_Like_Your_NailColor_Book_CoverMary Foley, co-host of WLEE’s “Girlfriend We Gotta Talk!” and national motivational speaker, has written her third - Live Like Your Nail Color - Even If You Have Naked Nails. Like her first two books, Bodacious Woman: Outrageously In Charge of Your Life and Lovin’ It and Bodacious Careers: Outrageous Success For Working Women, Mary gives no-nonsense advice in a fun and spirited way.  Her books (this one included) are a natural extension of her personality and outlook on life.

Nail color is just one of those things that we, as women, use to give ourselves a lift or to hint at some inner, secret part of ourselves. It is a safe way to be daring and bold or to be carefree and impish no matter what age you are. Even no polish at all or “naked nails,” as Mary says, shows that “you are willing to be your true, authentic self and show it to the world.”

Live Like Your Nail Color is much more than a guide to nail care, it’s an attitude guide. It serves as a reminder that it’s the small things we do for ourselves that can make all the difference in our world. When we glance down at those freshly buffed and painted nails we feel a little better about ourselves, and that gives us just the boost we need to take on the newest challenge in our lives, whether that challenge is a major project on the job or just getting past the midweek hum-drums.

Whether we are sitting in the nail salon or having a “live like your nail color” night at home - alone or with friends - Mary encourages us to tip up those bottles of nail color, read the names, find one that inspires us and become what the name implies. We can transform, renew and restore one nail at a time. If that color doesn’t do the trick, never fear, there’s always another color waiting on the shelf to be tried.

Mary has her own line of nail colors and a party planner to make it easy to throw your very own “Live Like Your Nail Color” party. She also wants to hear your own inspiring nail color stories.
