Richmond, VA – Nov. 5, 2009 – Rare Fitness is bringing a new fitness facility model to Richmond: martial arts, combined with sports conditioning, weight training, and yoga, all with a personal touch. Their goal is to offer families a variety of fun fitness and conditioning options under one roof and live up to their motto: Rare Achievement, Rare Experience.
Opening Day is Monday, Nov. 16 at their Midlothian location, 14207 Midlothian Turnpike, in the Ivymont Shopping Center. Their doors will open at 9:00am, with classes and activities running until 8:30pm.
Pete Hatcher, the founder of Rare Fitness, has long had a dream of opening his own gym, and helping people reach their fitness goals. “Whatever their goals are: get in better shape, fit into last year’s jeans, compete in a martial arts or fitness event, or become a stronger, healthier family, we’re here to help them meet those goals,” Pete says.
Michelle Hatcher, Pete’s wife, is a key player in Rare Fitness. She’s an advocate for women’s fitness. After spending her childhood and young adult years battling weight issues, she started training in 2004. Using kickboxing and weight training, she sculpted 50 pounds off her frame, and is now a featured model in martial arts magazines and web sites. She looks forward to helping other women, and their families, develop and reach their fitness goals. Michelle say, “I know everyone isn’t naturally skinny and we’re all built differently. But we all have the ability to look our personal best.”
Rare Fitness offers some unique features that set it apart from traditional martial arts studios, and even other fitness facilities:
- A unique class offering including martial arts, group exercise and yoga
- Separate changing rooms, with showers, for men and women
- Family-friendly programs for kids and adults
- Separate group exercise and personal training rooms
- Several membership plans to choose from and never an enrollment or sign-up fee
Activities planned for Opening Day include:
- Free kick-boxing and yoga classes for adults
- Free RareFit sessions
- Free kick-boxing classes for kids 7 to 12 years old
- “Meet the Trainer” sessions
The facility is providing community service beyond helping its members get in shape – it has created the “Your Loss, Their Gain” campaign, which will donate a pound of food to the Central Virginia Food Bank for every pound lost by Rare Fitness members.
Other events coming up at Rare Fitness: a Ribbon-Cutting on Friday, Dec. 4, hosted by the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce, and a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 5. Full details will be on the Rare Fitness website: www.rarefitness.com.
