Life Is Good - Books

Motivated by Passion, Held Back by Fear by Tchicaya Ellis Robertson, Ph.D. and Sheila Taylor-Downer, Certified Life Coach, is an incredibly inspirational book for women that teaches how to overcome fear and other barriers and how to start living with passion.  In a society where only 45 percent of people are satisfied with their jobs, finding one's passion is incredibly important.

There is a general lack of true passion in today's society, where dreams are stifled in favor of practicality, leading many to live unsatisfying lives of tedium, depression, and burnout.  In a national study of over 1,000 women, Robertson and Taylor-Downer found that each day, 37 percent of women awaken to thoughts of what needs to be accomplished and 9 percent awaken to thoughts of their job, which serves to show how tedium is inescapable and pervades our every moment of consciousness.  While our first thoughts of the day might not be whether or not we are happy with our lives, the authors inspire self-examination and reflection; "...maybe it should be.  Are you living the life you want to live?  Are you living the life you were called to live?  Are you inspired, motivated and looking forward to each day with anticipation and excitement?"

For many, daily life consists of preparing for and commuting to a place that, after performing the initial tasks of checking e-mail and returning phone calls, workers are "propelled into a world of the many sacrifices that you make on a daily basis."  Although many of us are familiar with job dissatisfaction, the authors suggest that this does not have to be the case.  While many remain in unsatisfying jobs out of a sense of duty, it is statistically proven that people who are living their dreams are more financially successful than those who are not.

By teaching readers how to identify their passions, overcome both internal and external obstacles, and begin living their passions, Robertson and Taylor-Downer transform lives.  Motivated by Passion, Held Back by Fear proposes that tedium and dissatisfaction are not necessary parts of life, and that once we overcome our fears and pursue our dreams, we will be decidedly more successful in the long run.
