New Blog! Everyday Foreplay
| Relationships - Frequent Foreplay Miles |
I'm excited. On January 1 I'm officially launching my new blog at www.EverydayForeplay.com. I'll be giving you daily tips on how to score Frequent foreplay Miles by engaging in everyday emotional foreplay which, of course, ultimately leads to that other kind of foreplay. Anyhoo, I'm taking my inspiration from whatever day is being observed that day. E.g., did you know there's such a thing as National Bubble Wrap Day? Or Cuckoo Dancing Week? And that's just the tip of the can-you-believe-it iceberg. Here's a reprint of my January 1 blog post. Please subscribe to my new blog. I promise you'll get lots of great tips.
Holy moly! Seems like yesterday that people were yammering on about the perils of Y2K and international computer crashes. Sure doesn't feel like 11 years have passed and yet here we are, ushering in 2011. But the real headline today is . . . drum roll, please . . . the official launch of the EVERYDAY FOREPLAY BLOG!!!!! For the next year, I'll be posting daily tips and advice—inspired by a month, week or daily observance—on how you can score oodles of Frequent Foreplay Miles with Everyday Foreplay. By this time next year, you'll be an emotional foreplay pro, rackin' up Frequent Foreplay Miles right and left.
Today isn't just the first day of 2011 and the official launch day of this blog, it's also Saint Basil's Day. Now, Basil lived a monastic life so he was no-way-Jose an expert on emotional foreplay—or for that matter, any kind of foreplay—but he was a big believer in taking care of all members of the community. The day is celebrated by the giving of gifts.
There were other days of observance I could have chosen for Everyday Foreplay inspiration but I chose this one because your relationship is a mini-community—even bigger if you have kids—that requires care. And, when it comes to emotional foreplay, gifts play a BIG role. No, you don't need to add a line item to your budget so relax. Small, thoughtful gifts—both tangible and intangible—are just fine. Besides, most stores are closed today, you're no doubt burned out from holiday shopping, and today is good day to hunker down at home. So how 'bout we focus on the intangible, okay? Here we go with today's tips . . .
• Pull out the 2011 calendar and ask your sweetheart to help schedule a year of date nights
• Give your love bug a foot massage or back rub and use the best oil or lotion you have
• Write and give your sweetheart a love letter
• Turn off the TV, snuggle up, light the fireplace (if you have one) and talk about everything and nothing
• Make a lovely dinner and serve it by candlelight or have a living room floor picnic
• Make a list of ten reasons why having your sweetheart makes you the luckiest person on the planet, then read it aloud to your sweetie
• Play Twister—maybe Strip Twister?—or another game that will make you laugh and have fun
Whatever you do, make it more than being in the same place at the same time with the Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl Game blaring in the background. Be together, really together, focused on each other. Start the year with an emotional connection and resolve to nurture that connection with Everyday Foreplay. It's a resolution that, if kept, pays off big time. And if, during the year, you falter, just get right back on the wagon. I'm here to help.
On the philosophical side, your relationship is a micro-community, one which you willingly created and, if you have children, expanded. You're no longer a solo flyer. Everything you do (or not) has an impact on that community. If you decide that today is a great day to stay in bed, you may awaken refreshed but you've left your sweetheart alone all day long. That's not likely to get you the Frequent Foreplay Miles you want. Everyone wants to live in a healthy, flourishing community. Do your part. Pay attention. Keep your promises. Like St. Basil, nurture and care for the members of your relationship community and watch it thrive.
