Triple Creek Ranch is a birder's paradise. Along nearby rivers, and grassy hillsides, watch for the majestic bald and golden eagles, rough legged and red-tailed hawks, merlins and peregrine falcons. Scope the ponds and slack waters for phalaropes and migrating waterfowl. Scan mountain meadows for Ruffed, Dusky and Spruce Grouse. Keep one ear tuned to gobbling wild turkeys. Hike through pine forests in search of Stellar's Jays, black capped and mountain chickadees, fox sparrows, dark-eyed juncos and red crossbills. During a quiet evening stroll, listen for the distant hooting of the great horned and barred owls.
Wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and birders may also enjoy nearby wildlife sanctuaries. Stop by the East Fork of the Bitterroot River or Painted Rocks Lake in search of Bighorn Sheep. Visit Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge to observe abundant waterfowl .
