Richmond Cupcakes Takes The Cake

A local Richmond cupcake shoppe gets sprinkled with a little recognition from one of the top cupcake blogs, Cupcakestakethecake.blogspot.com, making it the first cupcake dedicated Richmond shop to be featured.

Since starting their business in March, bakery owners Laurie Blakey and Laura Condrey have been working to build a following of loyal customers and an online presence for Pearl's Cupcake Shoppe.  After being open just four short months, they were thrilled to be featured on Cupcakes Take the Cake, the most popular cupcake blog.

 

"We were so excited to be chosen," says Ms Blakey, "The creative side of this is the aspect that we enjoy the most, and we were thrilled to be recognized by such a diverse and prominent resource for cupcake lovers."

Cupcakes Take the Cake was founded in 2004, and  is written by self-described "true cupcake fans,"  Rachel Kramer Bussel, Nichelle Stephens and Stacie Joy.  They have featured cupcake bakeries from Brazil to New York to Pakistan to Singapore.

The blog highlighted Pearl's "Fireworks" and "Burger" cupcakes, the later being made of layered vanilla and chocolate cake and colored frosting in the shape of mini-burgers.

"We are continually working to improve and come up with more innovative ideas for our cupcakes," said Ms Condrey,  "And we look forward to sharing them with Richmonders and cupcake fans from far and wide."
