The ROC to Hold First Annual "School of ROC" Conference for Up-and-Coming Leaders
Richmond, Virginia – On September 15, 2011, The Richmond Outreach Center will kick off its First Annual School of ROC Conference for up-and-coming influential leaders, pastors, and laymen. This event, hosted by Executive Director Pastor Geronimo Aguilar, will feature classes centered on a curriculum teaching proven outreach techniques to grow and expand charitable non-profit organizations and churches. The event will last through Sunday, September 18 and will feature keynote speaker Reverend Jonathan Falwell, Senior Pastor of one of the largest churches in the country, with a membership of over 20,000. There is a suggested donation of $45 per person, with discounted rates for groups of 10 or more at $35 per person.
Crime in Richmond has significantly been reduced since The ROC opened its doors in 2001. At The ROC’s Grand Opening of their new church headquarters in April of last year, Governor Bob McDonnell stated, “I’ve seen, during my time as the Attorney General, the community come together in such an incredible way. The ministries in Essex Village and Southwood, leading to a 35% reduction in crime in the area and more young people going to school with the dropout and truancy rate going down considerably, are the fruit of what God has done through this ministry. This is exactly what we need to be doing: people of faith working together with the government and with the church to make a difference in people’s lives!”
School of ROC will be an innovative and incontrovertible approach to furthering and increasing the positive change Richmond has seen the past couple of years by featuring classes such as, Sports: The Best Bait for Your Roughest Kids, City Relationships, Marketing and Funding Your Organization, and many more. Anyone compelled to make a difference in the city is welcomed and encouraged to attend.
The Richmond Outreach Center is a non-denominational, independent church with the primary purpose of serving individuals in the community. With over 10,000 in weekly attendance, hundreds of volunteers and a dedicated staff utilize every available resource to provide basic needs to sustain positive change in the city of Richmond.
