An Open Invitation to a Charity Birthday Party
Be young, funky, and fresh...and still give service to others!
Amy Wentz and The Giving Heart demonstrates how, and invites you to join her!
Amy’s party is catered around urban individuals between 21-35, bringing the club goers and do gooders together to show that you can be young, funky, and fresh...but still give service to others. The event teams up with DJ Lonnie B from ipower92.1 radio station as well as the A-List promotion group.
“Ever sit down at Thanksgiving dinner and wonder where people that are less fortunate, college kids with no funds to head home, soldiers stuck in town, or just individuals with no family members go to celebrate the holidays? As I got older I did,” says Amy, “and started calling around to local soup kitchens and shelters to find out what I could do to fellowship with these individuals. Jasmine and I found The Giving Heart.
“The Giving Heart, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was launched in 2003 with the intent to distribute needed items to those in need around the Greater Richmond Metropolitan Area. After the demise of a local Thanksgiving event, The Giving Heart saw the need to offer its' own version; encouraging anyone to come to the table for food and fellowship. The Community Thanksgiving Feast began our main distribution point for putting needed items directly into the hands of those who deserved them.
“So as Poodie and I move into our 30th year....we want to celebrate with our friends and family by bringing awareness to such a great cause!!”

One small bag can make a large difference…
The Giving Bag Project began as a distribution project during The Giving Heart’s 2007 Community Thanksgiving Feast. In two years, over 1,000 Giving Bags have found their way into the hands of many in the Greater Richmond Metropolitan area. This year-round project allows individuals, families and groups to help us continue providing small items to the needy, the elderly or the homeless visitors who come to our table each year. As we broaden this project to meet year-round needs, we will partner with other organizations to collaborate on ways to reach further into the community, serving those who would otherwise go without.
