Readers, writers and media agencies come together at the Active Woman Traveler (AWT) to share and learn from each other. By involving a large, ever-growing number of writers and media agencies, the site produces content to attract and inform readers. The more readers, the more the writers and the agencies benefit.

The contributors - writers, photographers, and videographers - are the foundation of the site, as well as beneficiaries. Each contributor's status as a site editor, many with their own departments, gives her growing credibility, which she can use as she expands her professional career or as she solicits p.r. agencies for media trips for review. Not only will writers provide their own contact information and qualifications with each article to encourage direct contact from p.r. outlets, but select media trips that come through the AWT office will be offered to qualified contributors.

To qualify as a writer for AWT, a woman must send two writing clips (need not be travel related), pass an editing test,[1] and submit a cover letter describing her travel interests, her social media experience, her level of web proficiency, and the expectation of frequency of submissions. There are no minimum requirements for frequency of submissions; however, writers who post frequently will receive preference for gaining their own department and for receiving media trips. Content does not have to be exclusive to AWT (as long as all permissions are in order).[2] On the contrary, writers who also maintain a blog are encouraged to maintain their blog activity, with cross-promotion between AWT and the blog. In addition, AWT editors are encouraged to promote their articles, ideas, and recommendations through social media such as Twitter and Facebook.

The contributors, the core of AWT, will illustrate the strength of women networking. The power of each participant to promote the site, even when focusing on her own contributions, will increase the benefits for all. In addition, AWT will promote the site through press releases, social media outlets, and advertising.

Ultimately, advertisers will benefit from The Active Woman Traveler as well. Because writers will likewise be partners, they will share in income from any advertisers they enlist, keeping up to 75% of the cost of each ad.

The Active Woman Traveler will reflect the diversity of interests in women as they explore locally, nationally and internationally. Rather than focusing on stereotypical «chick vacations» that play to spas and shopping, most AWT articles will highlight active pursuits, such as hiking, running, boating, sports, etc. and including museums, tours, and so on. Of course, after the sun has gone down and her energy wanes, the active woman will also want to enjoy spas, shopping, dining, and fine beverages!
