New CAO at Massey Cancer Center

Most recently Berrier was associate director, finance and administration for the University of Colorado Cancer Center at the University of Colorado Denver. Berrier has held increasingly responsible positions at the University of Colorado Denver’s School of Medicine since 1992. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver.
In her role as Massey Cancer Center’s first CAO, Berrier will oversee all administrative functions of the Center including strategic and financial planning, research administration and compliance, clinical partnerships, IT, facilities, and human resources. In addition, she will provide leadership in the development, implementation and management of new clinical partnerships and affiliations throughout the Commonwealth designed to expand the Center’s clinical trials and other collaborative research opportunities.
Alan D. Johns, Assistant Vice President for Health Sciences – Financial and Administrative Affairs has been formally serving as the Center’s Interim CAO since early 2009. “We are delighted that Donna will be joining VCU Health Sciences. She brings to us outstanding, proven leadership to facilitate the Center’s continued growth, influence, and contributions to Virginia and cancer research, treatment and prevention.”
Gordon Ginder, MD, director of Massey Cancer Center, said, “Running an NCI cancer center is a highly specialized role, since there are only 65 such centers in the United States. We welcome Donna to the leadership team at Massey. Her business acumen combined with her desire to let researchers focus on what they do best – research – will provide a new direction in enabling Massey to fully achieve operational success.”
