Light Up the Night with Stars

THE RICHMOND AREA COUNCIL of the AMERICAN BUSINESS WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION presents Light Up the Night with Stars, the 2009 Celebration of American Business Women's Day. The event features keynote speaker Tom Davidson of Davidson Leadership, presenting "From Shooting Star to North Star: How to Make Your Leadership Legacy a Lasting One"

Light Up the Night also features presentation of 2009 Friendship, Leadership and Scholarship Awards and the Richmond Area ABWA Woman of the Year, presentation of the Richmond STAR Awards in Corporate Management, Education, Media, Medicine and Small Business Management. the Richmond Star recipients. They will receive their awards at the celebration on September 11th.

The Richmond Stars are presented as a part of the Richmond area celebration of American Business Women's Day. The Richmond Star awards are presented to Richmond area business women who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the following categories: Corporate Management, Education, Media, Medicine, and Small Business Management. The event is hosted by the Richmond Area Council of the American Business Women's Association. The following women are 2009 Richmond Stars:

Corporate Management: Wilma Kidd, Staff Vice President, Corporate Privacy and Ethics and Compliance Training for Wellpoint, Inc.
Education: Tabatha M.W. Spurlock, Lead Instructor - Nontraditional Programs, Henrico County Public Schools
Media: Lori Ross, Publisher, Boomer Life Magazine and Senior Guides
Medicine: Dr. Michelle Whitehurst-Cook, MD, Assoc.Professor of Family Medicine, VCU School of Medicine
Small Business Management: Kirsten Graham, Broker/Owner, Creative Mortgage

The event takes place on Friday, September 11, 2009 at Sheraton Richmond West, Richmond, Virginia. The reception is at 5:30pm, awards dinner at 6:30 pm. Members' cost is $40 ($45 after August 31)  and nonmembers $45 ($55 after August 31).
