Work It, Girl! - Women's Organizations

Metropolitan Area Women Host Network Meetings

Kicking off the Richmond Women's Network (RWN) 2010 meetings, the West End branch hosts its annual networking tips session. Held Wednesday, January 13, 11:45 a.m. at  the Capital Ale in Innsbrook Shopping mall, Cox & Broad Streets, facilitator Sylvia Wright leads a discussion of what does and does not work related to professional networking activities.

The West End branch is one of four informal gatherings offered by RWN throughout the Richmond, VA area. The first Wednesday of the month meeting occurs in Mechanicsville and is coordinated by Nancy Boyer at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. During the West End meeting, participants briefly highlight present-day professional activities and then the group spotlights one member's activities. Unique to this branch, the format appears to work best for their membership's entrepreneur activities.

While each branch of RWN draws from different business sectors, in general the association is dedicated to the advancement of women in the workplace. The informal structure provides participants with a network of peers in which career-building ideas and professional resources are shared for the purpose of helping women succeed with career goals and financial independence.

Formed in the Spring of 1999 through merge memberships of the Richmond Professional Women’s Network and the Commonwealth Executive Women’s Council, RWN's Goals and Objectives are

·     To increase career opportunities and earning power through new business contacts, educational programs, and information sharing.

·     To form friendships in the business community, bolster self-esteem, give and receive support, and share ideas and information.

·     To provide an organized, yet informal arena in which to enhance professional growth.

Membership in the Network is open to all women who share a commitment to the goals and objectives of the organization.

Make a commitment to expand your network. Join RWN's West-End group on January 13th to contribute networking skills as well as receive tips/strategies from others. To RSVP, contact Sylvia Wright at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
